TrueGrip Training
TrueGrip Training is more than a mobility school. It’s a set of principles with which we aim to guide our actions.
These principles are set out as follows:
We remove ego from training - this is the primary principle which governs the direction the others take.
One of the biggest contributors to increased injury risk is ego, or the protection thereof.
A large number of clients reach out, injured due to overzealous, undirected training. This can be alleviated through a number of means but namely among them is developing an understanding of your own overall mobility and the unique strengths/challenges it presents.
TrueGrip Training is for everyone - we welcome everybody equally. Most of us have been unfortunate to at some point train (or worse, work) at a gym that doesn’t do enough to promote inclusivity.
It’s basically a meme at this point that some gyms are only inclusive if you’re a huge guy with boulders for shoulders and veins ripple like lightning up your arms. This is not and never will be TrueGrip Training. Everyone is welcome and everyone can benefit from the methods we teach here.
We move at a pace that compliments clients’ development - each client is different and whether it be a 1to1, 1to2 or group session, every client is given the opportunity to explore the drills and exercises at a rate which supports their own development, safely and sustainably.
We value development above all else - in particular, over profits. This idea is core to the very motivations that lead to the inception of TrueGrip Training.
Continually making a positive impact on every single person that comes through the door. From long term clients, to consultations and plenty of curious passers by, we aim to always be offering high quality, forward thinking advice and insight. We think the pursuit of pain free living is something worth shouting about and will share what knowledge we can with anybody interested in listening.
Quality over quantity - this is a super important principle in the world of training. We all know the saying “it’s not how heavy you lift, it’s how you lift it”. But we also apply this to business practices.
Sometimes, in the oversaturated health and wellness market, schools or trainers can easily fall into traps whereby they feel obligated to post something, anything, working the algorithm. The health sector equivalent of churnalism. We will only post something if we believe it.
We can’t understand anything until we understand everything - we will never stop educating ourselves as well as others on how the body works, how to look after it, how to move it safely and keep it pain free.
This is fundamental to how we approach life.
